About

LadyIDHi y’all!!

I’m Lady ID – a Nigerian bred, LA-based designer and programmer with a sometimes British/sometimes southern/mostly nondescript accent.

My interests run the gamut from fashion, more fashion, video games, Doctor Who, sci-fi, Bollywood, calligraphy, cupcakes – basically anything design/tech related. I’m your not-so-average left and right brained woman.

The name Gila ati Amour means “joy and love”. Gila (Hebrew for joy) ati (Yoruba for and) Amour (French for love) and that is what I hope to share on this blog – my love for fashion and the joy of seeing people living life and feeling beautiful in my creations. That’s right – I do commissioned work as time permits.

I have designed clothes since I was in middle school, if not earlier, but I started breathing life into those designs over a decade ago. If you are Nigerian or West African, you know how hard it can be to find a good tailor. The frustration of not having my designs translated accurately led me to my journey of dressmaking. I love clothes that are pretty on the inside AND outside. I love to share my process and tips or tricks.

That being said, my first love is Jesus Christ – He seriously is my saviour and all in all so He gets His own line 🙂

Aside from lots of fashion, there will be a few lifestyle, faith and cupcake posts. My day job is in tech and entertainment so there’ll be a bit of that too.

Leeeeeeeeetttttttttt’s go!!!!

PS. You may recognise me from Peppermint and Paisley circa 2013-2015. That was my first foray into blogging and clearly I still like it:)

Wow – really wonderful to meet you both. I feel serious kinship, the Nigerian connection I think :- ) and the love of food!
